Non-fire Cupping

Cupping can be used during a massage session to release toxins from the muscles and enhance circulation. It does this by causing local congestion when a partial vacuum is created in the cups while placed on the skin by means of suction. The suction draws up the underlying tissues and has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, revitalize the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. It is a highly effective form of deep tissue massage.

The use of cupping in healing practices has a long history dating back well over 3000 years in China and was noted in Egyptian medical texts as early as 1550 B.C. The common known cupping has been in the form of Chinese fire cupping which is used with glass cups and fire to create suction. The cupping that is more commonly used now among massage therapist is done with silicon cups and no fire is needed to create the suction. The cups can be left stationary for trigger point treatment or moved to facilitate myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, the breaking up of scar tissue and pain relief.

I word on the 'cupping marks'...Where there is dead, static blood, lymph, cellular debris and toxins present in the body, Cupping can leave marks which indicates that stagnation has been moved from the deeper tissue layers to the surface, allowing fresh oxygenated blood to nourish the underlying area This is not a bruise! A bruise is created when our tissue is damaged from a forceful impact. Most cupping marks clear up within a few days and while there may be some residual soreness on the area worked, the tissue has not been damaged.
